Online SQL Training

Brief History

SQL draws its basic concept from relational model, which was first defined by an IBM based researcher, Dr. E. F. Codd. He wrote a paper, ‘A Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Data Banks’. This article attracted more people about the feasibility of this system in terms of commercial application. IBM started the System/R project in 1974 as the works of Donald Chamberlin and others led to the emergence of the SEQUEL, a Structured English Query Language. In 1976-1977, SEQUEL was completely rewritten to help with the implementation of multi user and multi table features. The revised system was renamed as SEQUEL/2 and eventually it came to be known as SQL.

Why Learn SQL and Course Schedule

SQL is also known as the Structured Query Language. It is a language used for data manipulation. It’s used in various types of DBMS like Oracle, DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access. Through online SQL training you will learn using SQL for retrieval purposes, storing and updating of data in Microsoft Access. In other databases, the data types and the SQL syntax might differ but you can learn them faster once the base knowledge is complete. While learning SQL you will learn about databases, their necessity, primitive methods and their disadvantages, advantages of databases.

SQL online course also includes the features like database history and evolution, database types and their advantages and disadvantages, components of relational database and top database companies. Learning SQL will also make you aware of the database tools such as command line tools, tools for different databases, TOAD Demo, SQL*Plus Demo for Oracle, Enterprise Manager Demo for Oracle and establishing database connection. Further you will learn about the history of SQL and its standards including its features, its uses in databases and Oracle installation.

In SQL you will learn to use TOAD for database accessing. In the realm of select queries you will learn about arithmetic operations and selecting data from table. Further you will learn about DUAL table, column aliases and concatenating data. Sorting data is an important aspect in SQL training while restricting data is another important aspect in which you will learn about the operators that function while restricting data.

In the field of functions, you will learn about numeric functions and character functions including their examples. Further you will learn about the date functions and conversation functions. You will learn MAX, MIN, AVG, COUNT and SUM while dealing with Aggregate functions. Grouping data in SQL is an essential feature.

The other important features included in the course material of SQL are: Subqueries, Table Joins (part I, II), Creating table, Constraints (Part I, II), Modifying Data, Altering table, Indexes, Views, Set Operators and lastly the Co-related Subquery.

The broad course schedule of SQL will offer ample learning opportunities for the students.
